The cut-and-paste activity surprised me in the variety of emotions and perspectives it elicited. I might have used it without any expectation of a reaction other than another tool for revision. Thank you, Brea and Lynn, for opening my eyes to the sensitivity and awareness that needs to accompany all our choices.
Sometimes, it is great to get other reactions to things that we may have never thought of ourselves. I have gotten a great many other perspectives to a great many things since we have all been together in this class. Thanks everyone!
ReplyDeleteI agree! I still love it and still see all the implications to use it in the classroom. However, what type of writing assignment, prior knowledge and community building will all be much more important to how I will use it. I appreciated hearing different perspectives on the assignment. Having said that, Chris B. was extremely helpful in working out some ideas with me that I was struggling with. Because it was my paper and because I was so close to it I was having trouble seeing that by letting something go, that I might improve the piece. Thanks Chris!
ReplyDeleteI agree! I think we do things sometimes and we don't think how it impacts some of the students in our room.
