Wow! I've been wanting to do this for some time now. Unfortunately, once the school year begins, I seem to hit survival mode, and all the new ideas fly out the window--not to mention all the barriers schools put up "in the best interest of the students."
I can't wait to try this with students. Once I saw all the assignments my youngest daughter had to do online with post-secondary and now on-campus, I knew I needed to give my students more exposure to this type technology.
I agree I am wanting to more towards this as well. Tracy was talking about blogs for things like having a student post notes from class that day as a recorder. Then others could add ideas and/or discussion. I thought that was a cool idea to incorporate reflection over the class.
ReplyDeleteI would love to use this as well but am wondering if the network security at school will block it. I usually can't get to blogs at my school. Hmm...something to ask my school tech guy about.
ReplyDeleteDo you have First Class email and/or Progress Book at your school? It's my understanding that blogs can be set up through one of those, but we didn't make it that far this past year.
ReplyDeleteIf you can get your tech coordinator to set up Google Apps for Education, and it's free, blog access is built into that. Discussion forums, too. :-)
