Parker Palmer

Our group was just a tad slow starting, but once we started, it was great. Thanks to Don for bring us back to the text on our brief diversion. It was good to hear the issues at other schools-- I guess it's comforting to know I'm not alone! I especially resonated with our discussion on who we are as people impacting who we are in the classroom and the importance of that personal ingegrity as teachers. Students are so quick to recognize frauds.

  1. I think as we all share, bond and discuss we will realize that we are not alone. Many of today's school and staff are all in the same boat. As our group discussed I realized that we all need to figure out through our sharing how to keep this EDUCATIONAL BOAT AFLOAT. While it helps to vent and realize that there is issues our emotions, ideas and thoughts will be that life-jacket. I told my group today that I have discouraged my daughter in law from education. Shame on me. We really have one of the best jobs and maybe just maybe we can BREAK SOME OF THESE CYCLES.

  2. We talked about how nice it was to hear about the things happening at other schools as well. I think sometimes we think that we are the only school that has problems, and it is good to get out and hear that some others are having some of the same problems that we are.
